Topic: mission, vision

Find and Follow Jesus – that is the mission of Family Chapel. In this Vision Sunday message, Pastor Dave challenges us to understand what it means for our church to live out that mission every day. We do not exist simply to gather on Sundays. We exist to help people encounter Jesus, grow in their relationship with Him, and live as His followers.

In Acts 1:6-11, Jesus gives His disciples a clear assignment before He returns to heaven. He calls them to receive the power of the Holy Spirit and become His witnesses. Their mission would begin in Jerusalem and extend to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. Pastor Dave uses this passage to remind us that Jesus still calls His Church to carry His message beyond the walls of the building.

Family Chapel’s mission flows directly from that calling: help people find and follow Jesus. We want people to encounter Jesus, discover who He is, and take the next step toward following Him with their lives.

Following Jesus requires more than attending a service. It calls us to respond to His Word, listen to the Holy Spirit, serve others, and live with purpose. God invites every believer to take part in His mission. Whether we serve, give, invite someone to church, encourage another believer, or share our faith, each step can help someone move closer to Jesus.

Pastor Dave also challenges the church to view generosity through a biblical lens. Philippians 4:14-19 shows how the early church partnered with Paul through giving. Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:19-21 that our treasure reveals where our hearts are. Paul also encourages the Corinthians to excel in the grace of giving. Generosity, then, becomes more than a financial decision. It becomes an expression of worship and a way to participate in God’s work..

Vision Sunday calls Family Chapel to look beyond what happens inside the church and focus on the people who still need to find Jesus. God has given His Church a mission, and every believer has a part to play. As we move forward together, we can pursue one clear purpose: helping people find and follow Jesus Christ. When we keep Jesus at the center, our worship, service, generosity, relationships, and outreach all point toward the same mission.
